According to police, Boosie and two men, Michael Louding and Adrian Pittman, who were also charged with first degree murder, fired shots into Boyd's home and allegedly were in possession of ecstasy, codeine and marijuana.
East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore III said the death penalty was not out of the question because they believe Boosie paid to have Boyd killed.
Moore also stated investigators are looking into whether Hatch and others are involved in at least five other killings since early last year. "We're investigating the others in a similar fashion," Moore said. "We are investigating the common pattern of these killings and money."
The six slayings they are looking into start from the Feb. 9, 2009, shooting death of local up-and-coming rapper Chris Lynell "Nussie" Jackson to the April 1 double-murder of Charles Matthews and Darryl "Bleek" Milton.
Boosie, who is currently incarcerated after a judge order him to serve time for probation violation, has also been indicted for conspiring with a girlfriend, another inmate and a former correctional officer of smuggling in synthetic marijuana, marijuana pills and codeine into the prison.
In addition to Lil' Boosie, Pittman, and Louding, District Attorneys also state that Jared Williams, Kendrick Johnson, Johnathan Rogers and Ryan "Sneaks" Carroll have all been charged with first degree murders. Carroll and Rogers are both minors, but will be charged as adults.
